Pastor Dave Breen - Minister of Transformation
Dave, are you going to "follow in your father's footsteps" and enter the ministry?
For almost twenty years I responded to friends and family with a resounding "no." But while a student at Hope College, God's voice came to me through several kind church leaders. Two years later, in joyful anticipation, I enrolled, first at Gordon-Conwell Seminary near Boston, and then a year later, at Western Seminary in Holland.
Since being ordained as a pastor in 1975, I have served churches in Portage, Holland and Hudsonville, Michigan. During my early years of ministry I returned to Western Seminary to complete a Doctor of Ministry curriculum focused on "Churches in Conflict." Many years later, this study would pave the path for my current work as the Executive Director of Leader Renewal Institute.
More
Barb Erffmeyer - Administrative Assistant
I am married to Paul Erffmeyer, a teacher at Hudsonville Christian School. Paul and I have three grown daughters and two grandchildren. I love being "Gramsie" to my two grandkids and spending time with my family!
I am very thankful for Sunrise Ministries and have worked as the church's Administrative Assistant since the start of Sunrise. I am available to help the pastors and to also help any of the ministries or Boards of Sunrise. I work in the church office three days each week, with duties ranging from typing the bulletin to helping with the financial work. I also coordinate the Care Groups. I am always available by phone or email to help anyone with a question or need.
Kelly Bryant - Director of Women’s Ministries
I officially joined the Sunrise Staff in May 2008 as Director of Women’s Ministries. Prior to this, I served on the board of Elders at Sunrise for 4 years. I have three wonderful children and also work part-time as a Certified Hand Therapist, in the evaluation and treatment of traumatic hand injuries.
My vision for Sunrise Women’s Ministries is to create a safe place for women to come, openly identify, and work through life’s trials and challenges, creating an avenue for Christ’s healing to take place, through His Holy Sprit, His word, and through fellow sisters in Christ.
I have enjoyed creating various avenues within the church where Sunrise women develop and foster a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, as well as other Christian women. These avenues include weekly and biweekly bible studies, small group activities, and the planning/implementation of our very first women’s retreat in February 2009. Thank-you Lord for the Love that was “poured out” that weekend!
My heart and passion are most fulfilled when I have the opportunity to walk side by side with someone who is struggling, provide a listening ear, and help seek Christ’s direction in their situation.
Deb Bennett - KidZone Director
I have a husband and 2 college age children and lots of pets. I have worked on all aspects of children's ministry since my children were babies. I have a real passion for sharing the teachings and love of Jesus Christ and to make Him real to all God's children.
